Minnie Pedersen

We adopted Minnie when we had only been married for 5 months. Neither of us had ever had pets growing up so we had no clue what to do. Minnie immediately bonded with us and saw us as her parents. We enjoyed getting to know her very unique personality. She was very protective and would let anyone that she encountered know that she was our defender. She loved playing outside, especially running back and forth in open fields. She enjoyed running and chasing her toys in the house as we threw them. She was very athletic and loved to jump on and off of the furniture. When she was a puppy she would actually climb out of her gate just so she could get to us. She loved her snacks and really just loved to eat. We learned very quickly that we had to keep our food away from her or she would definitely get it. We had never seen a dog with an appetite like hers. She was never one to socialize much with other people or pets, we were her world and she really liked it that way. Our mothers were the only two people she was very happy to stay with when we were on vacation and we are so grateful that she was able to spend time with both of them before they left this world. She was their fur grand baby and they loved her deeply. She loved being cuddled and rocked like a baby and in her younger years she would even dance with us. Minnie always had to have something soft to lay on and made sure to cover herself in blankets. If we tried to put a blanket on her she would rearrange it immediately to her liking. Minnie taught us so many things that we could not write them all here. She taught us patience as we were house training her in the beginning and then once again as she began to age and was no longer able to move around as fast or as well. She taught us how to embrace the moment because she truly took each day as it was not worrying about the next. We both lost our moms in recent years and also our unborn son Invictus and Minnie was always there to comfort us through it all. When she saw us crying she would always come to us and check on us. She showed us just how important empathy truly is. When we lost our son Minnie gave us a reason to get up everyday because we knew she needed us. Raising her did not come without its challenges but we are just as grateful for the hard days as we are for the good days. Minnie was our emotional support dog and she was also our first baby. She will hold a special place in our hearts forever. Thank you Minnie for a challenging yet adventurous and loving 15 years. We love you Minnie, until we meet again.
